In an interview with AOL Build's Emma Gray, Tracy Droz Tragos discusses her new documentary, "Abortion: Stories Women Tell," which shares women's perspectives on abortion care and abortion rights.
With the film, which spotlights abortion access in Missouri, Droz Tragos aims to help women "reclaim the conversation" about abortion rights. She says, "We don't hear much from women directly: women who are affected, women who have unplanned pregnancies, women who are seeking abortion care; and these stories are very, very important to get out there." Droz Tragos adds that she hopes the film "encourag[es] storytelling, encourag[es] sharing so that [abortion care] is not something that is seen as strange or other or criminal."
Citing the importance of women having privacy and choice regarding abortion rights, Droz Tragos concludes, "Without that, women are second-class citizens. And that's not OK" (Gray, AOL BUILD, 8/15).
