In this map, CDC documents the laboratory-confirmed cases of the Zika virus reported in the United States and U.S. territories. As of May 18, CDC confirmed 544 cases of Zika in the states and 836 cases in U.S. territories (CDC Zika map, accessed 5/25).
CDC has revised its method for counting cases of infection among pregnant women. The agency is now counting all pregnant women who have tested positive for the virus, regardless of whether they present with symptoms. Previously, CDC counted only pregnant women who had tested positive for the virus and presented with symptoms. As of May 26, the agency has reported 168 confirmed cases of Zika among pregnant women in the states and 142 confirmed cases among pregnant women in U.S. territories (CDC Pregnancy Registry, accessed 5/26).
