KWTV's Grant Hermes covers the opening of a new reproductive health center in Oklahoma City, which previously had been the largest metropolitan area without an abortion clinic. The Trust Women South Wind Women's Center is the first abortion clinic to open in the state in 40 years, and only one of three clinics currently operating in Oklahoma.

According to Hermes, the Guttmacher Institute lists Oklahoma as one of 18 states "extremely hostile" toward abortion rights. Abortion-rights opponents protested the clinic's opening, but Julie Burkhart, Trust Women founder and CEO, said the clinic, which has security, would continue to provide care.
Burkhart said, "People are lacking access to health care ... We're here to serve the women of Oklahoma" (Hermes, KWTV, 9/17).
