In part of a longer clip covering multiple topics, Reuters TV reports on an omnibus antiabortion-rights measure (HB 1411) recently signed into law by Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) that bars local health departments from distributing funds for non-abortion-related care to organizations affiliated with abortion providers, among several other provisions.

According to Reuters TV, "State funding of abortion [care] was already prohibited in Florida, but the new law also blocks money for preventative services for low-income women at those clinics."
Reuters TV reports that critics of the law say "it will only prevent women from getting life-saving services like cancer screenings and drive up the number" of sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancies. In an excerpted clip from Planned Parenthood, one woman states, "Rick Scott approving this bill will mean that I won't have access to safe health care in general, and thousands of others won't either" (Reuters TV, 3/26).
