13 News WOWK reporter Alyssa Meisner interviews several women in West Virginia about Nurx, a smartphone application that helps women access birth control. To use Nurx, a woman fills out a medical history questionnaire, which is reviewed by doctors who make recommendations based on the woman's responses. The medication is then shipped at no cost directly to the woman.

One woman notes, "I think it's a good idea because people don't have access to it always," explaining that transportation barriers and cost issues can make it challenging for a woman to obtain birth control.
According to 13 News WOWK anchor Don Hammod, the app currently "only serves New York and California, but [Nurx] do[es] hope to serve women nationwide within the next few years" (Meisner, 13 News WOWK, 3/16).
