In this clip, KMBC's Micheal Mahoney discusses comments made by former HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at a Planned Parenthood conference in Kansas City, Mo.
At the conference, Sebelius lambasts Kansas' and Missouri's "decision[s] not to expand Medicaid" under the Affordable Care Act (111-148), noting that the decisions "hurt low-income women in particular." Similarly, she points out how certain abortion restrictions in both states, such as mandatory delays, disproportionately affect low-income women. Sebelius explains that while "somebody with resources" might still be able to access abortion care under a mandatory delay law, "It damn well affects somebody who can't take two days off a job, and can't drive across the state" (Mahoney, KMBC, 12/14).
