In a short film presented by Refinery29 in partnership with Planned Parenthood, several women share personal abortion stories.

Reflecting on her experience, one woman says "there was never a question in [her] mind that [she] would have an abortion," noting that it was "the decision that [she] knew [she] needed to make to basically save [her] own life." When asked about how she felt after the procedure, she says she felt "grateful and relieved," adding that "10 years later … I still feel that same sense of gratitude."
Another woman notes, "I think it's important to talk about abortion because there is still a stigma." She adds, "If a woman has control over when she is [going to] get pregnant and give birth, she, in turn, becomes more independent and there is more equality as a result." Noting that she does not have to "justify ... or explain" her decision to have an abortion, she states, "I was just a regular 28-year-old who didn't want a baby, and I did something that was legal and medically safe and that's all there is to it."
A third woman says that "it's only now ... that [she] realizes how common [abortion] is." She adds, "I think it's important to talk about abortion because you're taking away the tools of the people who are trying to shut you down" ("Her Shorts," Refinery29, 1/31).
