Cowart states that she "want[s] to acknowledge that it's been a really challenging and emotional time for Planned Parenthood, for our supporters, for our staff and for our patients since the events took place here in November, and we are so excited about reopening this health center today."
Noting that three individuals "lost their lives here," Cowart says, "I want to remind us all that no one should have to suffer or face violence when they're accessing health care, when they're standing by for a friend who's going to get their health care or when they're a community service person -- like the officer [who was killed in the shooting] who was just doing his job and doing the right thing" (Reuters/AOL.com, 2/15).
