MSNBC's Jonathan Capehart talks with South Carolina Rep. Mia McLeod (D) about a bill (H 4544) she proposed that would apply antiabortion-rights style restrictions to erectile dysfunction drugs.

According to Capehart, the bill would require men seeking such drugs to wait 24 hours before receiving them, undergo an examination by a state-licensed sexual therapist, "submit a notarized affidavit from at least one sexual partner" confirming they have experienced ED symptoms within the last 90 days and undergo three counseling sessions to "receive information on 'pursuing celibacy as a viable lifestyle choice.'"
Capehart says that McLeod "join[s] a growing list of female state lawmakers who are trying to counter the wave of recently passed antiabortion laws," pointing to examples of similar proposals in Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio and Virginia. Although McLeod does not expect her legislation to pass, she notes that "it has ignited a conversation that we certainly need to have" (Capehart, "Up," MSNBC, 12/19/15).
